Here at Collins Aerospace, within the Integrated Strategic
Solutions Engineering (ISSE) team, we're enhancing mission critical
systems to posture ourselves against current and future adversarial
threats. The need for passionate engineers who want to make a
difference is now. Our team develops solutions to ensure Nuclear
Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) function accurately,
on-time, every time, and under the most extreme circumstances.
We have an opportunity for a talented Senior Principal Software
Engineer to help lead software development of our Very Low
Frequency (VLF) communication link for the next generation of Air
Force and Navy aircrafts. The government has requested a need for
greater cyber security threat protection, software assurance,
improvement in availability and reliability while harnessing the
latest technologies for rapid development and deployment. You will
get to work in an exciting, adaptive, and engaging environment
enabling rapid learning to drive success.
What YOU will do:
YOU will work with an established software development team
utilizing agile techniques and tools to plan, design, develop,
test, and integrate our VLF solution.
YOU will help establish a product line software development plan
and environment to meet the need of multiple customers.
YOU will capture technical and procedural differences in customer
requirements to help strategize a common solution.
YOU will assist with responding to customer comments and providing
status to stakeholders.
YOU will work with other engineers to help define, enhance, and
support the software architecture as integrated within the
respective Mission System.
YOU will mentor junior engineers/interns.

domain.
You will help solve our customer's biggest challenges by partnering
directly with our Systems team and customer to create innovative
solutions.
You will become a subject matter expert and leader in communication
technologies with exposure to a variety of products in an

Education & Experience:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and
minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in
a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of
a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications you must have:
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance
is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as
only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Minimum 7+ years of experience in software design, integration, and
test utilizing Java, C, C++ and/or C#, Python, or similar
languages.
Professional experience in embedded systems design with Real-Time
Operating Systems (RTOS).
Software development experience in a DoD environment.
Skills we value:
Experience in Agile development methods, including Scrum, automated
testing, and continuous integration preferred.
Familiarity with a breadth of software tools, such as CMake,
Eclipse, Jenkins, DOORS, etc.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Git,
Subversion, Docker, and requirements management applications.
Previous professional background in software development lifecycle
models and processes for department of defense contracts.
Experience working on software for military applications and/or
experience of working government programs.
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts for model
and requirements management with tools such as MagicDraw Cameo,
Rhapsody, and Enterprise Architect.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The
salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of
all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending
an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and
associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience,
location, education/training, and key skills.
